About
About me
I'm Nikola, 19 years old and studying software development. Here's a bit about who I am and how I work.
Who I am
I've been into software for a while now and backend is where I feel most at home. I like working on things like databases, APIs and the logic that makes an app actually do something.
I don't like just copying stuff without knowing why it works. I take a bit more time to actually understand things, but it pays off.
What I enjoy
- Backend development
- Database design
- Building and connecting APIs
- Figuring out tricky problems
- Learning new tools and frameworks
- Working with people from different backgrounds
How I approach things
I always try to understand what I'm actually building before I start. I plan it out, think about the database first and then write the code. It sounds obvious but it genuinely makes the end result a lot better.
See how I work in more detail →Small team
I work well on my own and take ownership of my tasks. I keep people updated without being asked.
Larger team
I stick to the conventions that are already in place, communicate when something is unclear and don't make assumptions about shared code.
Feedback
I'm totally fine with feedback. I'd much rather hear something now than find out later that something was off. I listen, think about it and adjust.
How I learn
When I hit something I don't know, I look it up, read the docs and try things out until I actually get it. I don't like moving on when something still feels unclear.
